Mark Fell – Pattern Synthesis (Software Workshop)
In recent years Mark’s musical practice has focused heavily on an investigation of rhythmic structures and the procedures to generate these. This interest is particularly evident on his CD “Multistability” (released in 2010) and the major works that follow it. Here he explains how these interests came about and developed, in reference to early encounters with drum machines, analogue synthesis and techno musics; the influence of peers; initial explorations and procedures implemented for the group project SND; techniques used in the creation of Multistablity; and the differences in working with these techniques in studio and performance contexts.

Example activities include working within Mark’s custom-built Max/MSP patches to extend the reach of classic machines such as the Roland TR-808.
